Compensation: minimum $71,000 per year (salary, exempt) 2 weeks paid vacation annually, 5 paid sick days


Position Overview

State Street Ballet is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Professional Training Coordinator to lead and elevate the organization’s professional training programs (Trainee Program, Choreography Institute, Academy’s Pre Professional Company, currently State Street Ballet Young Dancers, Summer Conservatory). This individual will play a central role in shaping the next generation of artists by ensuring the highest standard of training, contributing to a culture of excellence, and helping build a reputation for producing refined, versatile, and sought-after dancers.

In addition to overseeing the school’s professional training programs, this role will build on the bridge between the school and the company. The coordinator will lead the student performance company (operating under the umbrella of State Street Ballet) and invest in developing a clear, high-level training pipeline that prepares dancers for seamless transition into professional company life.

The ideal candidate is an experienced educator, strong communicator, and highly organized administrator who is passionate about artist development, program growth, and cultivating pre-professional talent.


Responsibilities

Teaching 

  • Teach a range of classes including ballet technique, men's class, partnering and related disciplines

  • Set, stage, and clean repertoire as needed

  • Rehearse new works as needed

  • Maintain a high standard of instruction aligned with the company’s artistic vision

  • Mentor and support students in their technical and artistic growth

Administrative & Program Leadership

  • Develop and manage weekly class and rehearsal schedules

  • Serve as the primary point of communication for students and faculty

  • Collaborate closely with the Artistic Director and SSBYD Directors on curriculum planning, program development, and guest faculty engagement

  • Act as the main contact for student questions, concerns, and feedback

  • Organize and lead bi-annual student progress meetings

  • Coordinate and run faculty meetings in collaboration with the Artistic Director

  • Meet regularly with SSBYD directors

Production & Program Coordination

  • Oversee planning and logistics for first and second semester performances

  • Oversee planning and logistics for works-in-progress and choreography showings

  • Oversee planning and logistics for The Ballet Alliance Festival, including all TBA meetings

  • Attend The Ballet Alliance Festival

  • Coordinate program materials and assist with theater operations and production details

  • Ensure smooth execution of all training-related presentations

Recruitment & Outreach

  • Assist with National Audition Tour communications and follow-ups

  • Actively recruit students for the Summer Conservatory and ProTrack programs

  • Support enrollment growth and retention strategies

Marketing & Public Image

  • Oversee and contribute to marketing and advertising efforts for professional training programs

  • Help maintain and enhance the organization’s public image and reputation

  • Collaborate on outreach strategies to attract high-caliber students


Qualifications

  • Strong background in classical ballet training and performance

  • Proven teaching experience at a pre-professional or professional level

  • Experience directing or coaching pre-professional or performance groups preferred

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills

  • Ability to balance artistic and administrative responsibilities

  • Passion for developing young artists and contributing to a growing program
