Gael Arturo Andrade Rodriguez is a Mexican dancer from León, Guanajuato. He began his artistic training at age ten through musical theatre, studying tap, jazz, acting, and ballet. At fifteen, he decided to pursue ballet professionally and began training under Mercedes Quintana. Through her mentorship, he received a scholarship to attend the Rock School for Dance Education’s Summer Intensive, where he was awarded a full scholarship to continue his studies. He subsequently trained at the Rock School with Telmo Moreira, Justin Allen, and Bo and Stephanie Spassoff before joining the Boston Ballet School Professional Division at Walnut Hill School for the Arts.
At Boston Ballet School, Gael was awarded the Pao Male Scholarship for two consecutive years and graduated with Honors in the Dance Department. He performed with Boston Ballet in 47 performances of The Nutcracker and in works including Serenade, where he danced the role of Dark Angel, Ballet Classique by Sonia Kim, and Adès by Paulo Arrias. During his training, he received instruction from artists including Joan Boada, Miranda Weese, Cynthia Lucas, and Rie Ichikawa.
Gael later joined the Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet as a trainee, where he performed in The Nutcracker and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, both choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, as well as Eugene Onegin, choreographed by Yuri Possokhov. He also performed in Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Broken Wings, which toured with Joffrey Ballet during his time as a trainee. At Joffrey, Gael also studied Arpino repertoire and received training from Oğulcan Borova, Raul Diaz, and Suzanne Lopez.
As part of Joffrey’s Winning Works performances, Gael had the opportunity to work with choreographers Dayoung Jung, Julia Feldman, Fran Díaz, Alejandro Pérez, Roderick George, Keelan Whitmore, Karley Childress, and Daniel Ojeda. His international training includes summer programs with the Royal Danish Ballet School in Copenhagen and the Royal Ballet School in London.
Across his training and performance experiences, Gael has developed a versatile artistic voice rooted in classical ballet while embracing neoclassical and contemporary work. He is excited to join State Street Ballet for the 2026-2027 season and looks forward to continuing to grow as an artist, expand his versatility, and further develop his own voice as a dancer through the company’s diverse repertoire and artistic environment.
